Development of a concerted approach to advisory services for a comparative and complementary analysis of Quebec cow-calf operations

Several advisors work to improve the financial and technical performance of Quebec cattle operations, and each of them has expertise in their specific area of intervention. However, it is difficult to provide a comprehensive analysis of all aspects of production through a single area of expertise. To address this issue, two groups of advisors have decided to pool their respective expertise for the benefit of Quebec cow-calf producers. Management advisors from the Centre multi-conseils agricoles (CMCA) and advisors who are members of the Groupe Bovi-Expert (GBE) aim to promote and share the collection of relevant information from their clients in order to make their joint analysis more effective and optimal, while remaining efficient—meaning without duplicating the collection of essential data for a complete analysis.
Goals

The main objective of this project is to develop a joint intervention for Quebec cow-calf operations, based on a collective approach to collecting data, information and analyzing results, both economic and technical, in order to increase the participation rate of producers each year in recurring group analyses and thus optimize the monitoring of Quebec farms to improve their profitability. More specifically :

  • The process will interconnect and complement the Viagritel analysis tool with data from the Programme d'analyse des troupeaux de boucherie du Québec (PATBQ), providing a complete analysis and vision of the enterprise.

  • The common approach will allow for a comprehensive overview and coordinated recommendations between the management advisor ant the technical advisor.
