In-station and on-farm genetic evaluations in bulls
PATBQ plays a key role in genetic evaluation in young purebred bulls , tested both in multisource cattle breeding centers (stations) and in breeders farms.
Measured data on bulls, such as birth weight, weight gain, carcass quality traits (ultrasound measurements), hip height and scrotal circumference, is combined with pedigree data to obtain genetic values (EPD and ABC) which are highly useful in guiding bulls selection and purchase.
Conformation ratings may also be collected to provide additional information on front and back legs and musculature.
