BOvins for the Climate
The project aims to strengthen the capacity to reduce GHG emissions in the beef and sheep sectors through six major activities. These activities seek to consolidate the knowledge of various stakeholders, initiate the implementation of on-farm GHG reduction measures, and improve the tools needed to support advisors in their work and, ultimately, to better identify the levers that can help producers adopt effective reduction actions on a larger scale.
Goals
The main objective is to reduce methane (GHG) emissions from beef cattle production (cow-calf and slaughter steers) and sheep by implementing actions of farm practice changes involving partners and advisors committed to this transition. More specifically:
Demonstrate the effectiveness of methane (GHG) reduction actions under real farm conditions.
Strengthen advisors' skills and decision-making tools to accelerate the adoption of reduction actions by Quebec producers.
Identify key levers to implemented on a Quebec-wide scale to support producers in adopting GHG reduction actions on farm.
